There&#8217;s no instant lockout, no proration, no refund \u2013 you just won&#8217;t be charged on the next renewal date, and after that date your team loses access to paid features.<\/p>\n<h2>Where the Cancel link lives<\/h2>\n<p>Open <a href=\"https:\/\/account.upwex.io\/plans\">account.upwex.io\/plans<\/a> (or click <em>View Plans<\/em> from the Billing page). Find the card for your active plan \u2013 it has a green <strong>Current Plan<\/strong> badge in the top-right and a green <strong>Manage Team<\/strong> button at the bottom. You&#8217;ll only see it on the card matching your current plan; other cards show <em>Upgrade<\/em> or <em>Downgrade<\/em> buttons depending on whether they&#8217;re above or below your tier.<\/p>\n<h2>The confirmation modal<\/h2>\n<p>Click <strong>Cancel Plan<\/strong>. After that, your team will lose access to paid features.&#8221;<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Keep Plan<\/strong> \u2013 grey outline button. Click to back out; nothing changes.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cancel Plan<\/strong> \u2013 red button. Click to confirm cancellation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Behind the scenes, confirming the cancellation flips a single flag on your Stripe subscription (<code>cancel_at_period_end: true<\/code>). The subscription itself isn&#8217;t deleted \u2013 it&#8217;s scheduled to end on the next renewal date.<\/p>\n<h2>What changes immediately after you confirm<\/h2>\n<p>The cancellation is recorded right away, but no features are revoked. Two things change in the UI to make the new state visible:<\/p>\n<h3>Pricing Plans page<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/help\/ss-bp-11-pricing-canceling.png\" alt=\"Pricing Plans page after cancellation confirmed (Lite-plan account): Lite card now shows a red Canceling badge in top-right (replacing the green Current Plan badge), Manage Team button still green and active, and red text 'Cancels on Jul 2' below the button instead of the Cancel Plan link; Pro card with Recommended badge and Upgrade button, Max card with Upgrade button\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>Current Plan<\/strong> badge on your card turns into a red <strong>Canceling<\/strong> pill.<\/li>\n<li>The <em>Cancel Plan<\/em> link is replaced by red text <strong>Cancels on [date]<\/strong> showing exactly when the subscription will end.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Manage Team<\/strong> stays active \u2013 you can still add or remove seats.<\/li>\n<li>The other plan cards still show their <em>Upgrade<\/em> or <em>Downgrade<\/em> buttons, but using them won&#8217;t reverse the cancellation (it just queues a plan change <em>after<\/em> the cancellation date \u2013 usually not what you want).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Billing page<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/help\/ss-bp-12-billing-canceling.png\" alt=\"Billing page with cancelling subscription: PLAN hero card shows 'Max [Canceling]' with a red Canceling badge inline next to the plan name, the subtitle reads 'Cancels on May 29' (instead of Renews May 29), and the green button at the right has changed from Switch to View Plans; SEATS card unchanged at 3 seats with Manage button; CREDITS card still shows 3994\/4000 with Top Up button and Resets May 29; Payment History table at the bottom unchanged with all paid invoices\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>PLAN<\/strong> hero card displays a red <strong>Canceling<\/strong> badge inline next to the plan name.<\/li>\n<li>The subtitle changes from <em>&#8220;Renews [date]&#8221;<\/em> to <em>&#8220;Cancels [date]&#8221;<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>The green button changes from <strong>Switch<\/strong> to <strong>View Plans<\/strong> (the page it opens is the same; the label just signals that switching now is no longer the recommended path).<\/li>\n<li>SEATS, CREDITS, Payment History, and Payment Details all stay exactly as they were. You keep full access to everything.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What stays the same during the grace period<\/h2>\n<p>Until the cancellation date, your team is identical to a fully-paying team:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Every paid feature still works \u2013 Check Fit Job Analyzer, AI Cover Letter + Screening Q&amp;A, Cover Letter Templates with reply rate, the full Performance Analytics dashboard, Quick Apply, Proposal Autofill, and (on Max) the 24\/7 Auto-Bidding scanner with Custom Match Algorithm \/ Red Flags prompts.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>AI Credit pool<\/strong> behaves normally: members can keep spending plan credits, you can still buy <a href=\"\/articles\/top-up-ai-credits\/\">top-ups<\/a>, and the next reset (if it happens before the cancellation date) refills the pool.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Past invoices<\/strong> stay on the Payment History table forever \u2013 cancellation doesn&#8217;t delete them.<\/li>\n<li>Card on file and billing details stay on Stripe. Edit them at any time from <em>Payment Details<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What happens on the cancellation date<\/h2>\n<p>On the renewal date that&#8217;s now your end date, Stripe stops billing and sends a webhook to Upwex. Several things flip at once:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Subscription becomes inactive.<\/strong> Your <em>billing_status<\/em> changes to <em>canceled<\/em>; you no longer have an active subscription.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Paid features are gated off.<\/strong> The 24\/7 Auto-Bidding scanner stops, Quick Apply \/ Proposal Autofill \/ cover-letter generation \/ Check Fit Job Analyzer \/ Q&amp;A all return &#8220;subscription required&#8221; errors. The extension and the Account UI gracefully degrade.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Plan AI Credits become unreachable.<\/strong> Your <em>plan<\/em> credit pool is frozen at the database level \u2013 even if there were unused credits, you can&#8217;t spend them without an active subscription.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Top-up Extra Credits stay in your account.<\/strong> They&#8217;re not tied to subscription status \u2013 when you re-subscribe, they&#8217;re immediately spendable again.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Team members stay on the team.<\/strong> Nobody is removed automatically. They just can&#8217;t use paid features.<\/li>\n<li><strong>All your data is preserved<\/strong> \u2013 Performance Analytics history, prompt library, Auto Bid history, Pipedrive connection settings, Cover Letter templates, Team membership, profile syncs. Re-subscribing puts everything back exactly as it was.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Cancel vs Downgrade<\/h2>\n<p>If money is the only reason \u2013 consider downgrading instead. The <strong>Lite<\/strong> plan keeps the account active and preserves the AI Credit pool (100 credits\/seat\/month) without losing core AI features \u2013 you keep Check Fit Job Analyzer, AI Cover Letter + Q&amp;A, Cover Letter templates with reply rate, the full analytics dashboard, multi-profile, and the Adaptive AI engine. Downgrade is a much softer option than full cancellation if you&#8217;re just trying to cut costs during a quiet month.<\/p>\n<h2>Permanent account deletion<\/h2>\n<p>Cancelling doesn&#8217;t delete your account or its data \u2013 it just ends the paid subscription. If you want a full GDPR-style data erasure (account closed, history removed, profile data wiped), email <a href=\"mailto:support@upwex.io\">support@upwex.io<\/a> with the request.<\/p>\n<h2>Who can cancel<\/h2>\n<p>Only <strong>Owner<\/strong> and <strong>Admin<\/strong> roles can see and use the Cancel Plan link.
