One template is always marked as <strong>DEFAULT<\/strong> \u2013 that&#8217;s the one the widget pre-selects when you open a job on Upwork. The list also lets you set the default, edit, duplicate or delete any template directly from a row.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/help\/ss-cl-07-templates-list.png\" alt=\"ALL TEMPLATES section on the Cover Letters page \u2013 table with NAME (description preview), SENT, REPLIES, REPLY RATE, OFFERS, ACTION columns; Cover Letter #1 has a green DEFAULT badge; other rows have set-default, edit, duplicate, delete icons; + New button at the top right\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Anatomy of the list<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>+ New<\/strong> button at the top right \u2013 opens the Template Editor to create a new template.<\/li>\n<li><strong>NAME<\/strong> column \u2013 template name with a one-line preview of the body underneath.<\/li>\n<li><strong>SENT \/ REPLIES \/ REPLY RATE \/ OFFERS<\/strong> \u2013 usage stats for the period selected in the page header.<\/li>\n<li><strong>ACTION<\/strong> \u2013 the per-row icons described below.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>The DEFAULT badge<\/h2>\n<p>Exactly one template at a time carries the green <strong>DEFAULT<\/strong> badge next to its name. That template is the one the Cover Letter widget pre-selects on every Upwork job \u2013 saving you a click. You can still pick a different template from the dropdown when generating; DEFAULT is just the starting point.<\/p>\n<h2>Per-row actions<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>\u2713 Set as default<\/strong> \u2013 switches the DEFAULT badge to this template. Visible only on non-default rows.<\/li>\n<li><strong>\u270f Edit<\/strong> \u2013 opens the template in the Template Editor.<\/li>\n<li><strong>\ud83d\udcc4 Duplicate<\/strong> \u2013 creates a copy of the template with a new name. Useful for testing variants without losing the original&#8217;s stats.<\/li>\n<li><strong>\ud83d\uddd1 Delete<\/strong> \u2013 removes the template after a confirmation prompt. Historical stats for the deleted template are lost.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Why the DEFAULT can&#8217;t be deleted<\/h2>\n<p>The current default template is locked from deletion \u2013 its row only shows <strong>Edit<\/strong> and <strong>Duplicate<\/strong>. This prevents you from accidentally leaving the widget without a starter template. To delete it, first promote another template by clicking <strong>\u2713<\/strong> on its row \u2013 the badge moves over and the previous default becomes deletable.<\/p>\n<h2>Stats columns<\/h2>\n<p>The four stats columns make it easy to compare templates and see which ones actually convert:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>SENT<\/strong> \u2013 proposals submitted using this template in the selected period.<\/li>\n<li><strong>REPLIES<\/strong> \u2013 replies received on those proposals.<\/li>\n<li><strong>REPLY RATE<\/strong> \u2013 REPLIES \u00f7 SENT, as a percentage.<\/li>\n<li><strong>OFFERS<\/strong> \u2013 replies that turned into hire offers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Use the period switcher in the page header (Current Week \/ Last Week \/ Current Month \/ Last Month \/ custom range) to slice the numbers.<\/p>\n<h2>Tips<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Keep DEFAULT on your strongest converter<\/strong> \u2013 it&#8217;s what the widget reaches for first.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Duplicate before tweaking.<\/strong> If you change the body of a template that already has stats, the numbers stop being a clean comparison. Duplicate, edit the copy, and let it accumulate its own data.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Clean up regularly.<\/strong> Templates you&#8217;ve stopped using add noise.
