Team members can be promoted or demoted between Admin<\/strong> and Member<\/strong> roles at any time. The Owner<\/strong> role cannot be changed through the UI \u2013 contact support if you need to transfer ownership.<\/p>\n

Who can change roles?<\/h2>\n

Only Owners and Admins can change team member roles. Members cannot change their own or others’ roles.<\/p>\n

How to change a role<\/h2>\n
    \n
  1. Open the Team page at account.upwex.io\/team<\/a><\/li>\n
  2. Find the member whose role you want to change<\/li>\n
  3. Click the \u22ee<\/strong> menu in the Action column on their row<\/li>\n
  4. Select Make Admin<\/strong> or Make Member<\/strong> (the same menu also has a Remove<\/strong> option)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The Owner row has a lock icon instead of the \u22ee menu and cannot be changed.<\/p>\n

    What changes immediately<\/h2>\n

    Role changes take effect instantly. The member’s access to pages and actions updates without requiring them to log out and back in.<\/p>\n

    Promoting to Admin<\/h2>\n

    When you promote a Member to Admin, they gain:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Access to Billing and subscription pages<\/li>\n
    • Ability to invite, resend invites, and remove other team members (cannot remove the Owner)<\/li>\n
    • Ability to change other members’ roles between Admin and Member<\/li>\n
    • Ability to top up AI credits and manage seats<\/li>\n
    • Access to team-wide analytics (not just their own profile)<\/li>\n
    • Access to CRM, prompts, and Auto Bid configuration<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Demoting to Member<\/h2>\n

      When you demote an Admin to Member, they lose all the above permissions. Their existing Upwex data (prompts, profile links, history) is preserved.<\/p>\n

      Best practices<\/h2>\n
        \n
      • Don’t over-promote<\/strong> \u2013 extra Admins increases the risk of accidental billing actions. Keep Admin count to 1\u20132 for small teams.<\/li>\n
      • Promote before vacation<\/strong> \u2013 if the Owner is going on leave, temporarily promote a trusted member to Admin so billing can be handled if needed.<\/li>\n
      • Demote when offboarding<\/strong> \u2013 before removing a member, demote them to Member first. This prevents accidental team-wide actions during the offboarding window.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
