So a high spend means many actions, not expensive ones.<\/p>\n<h2>What costs a credit<\/h2>\n<p>The Usage History table on the AI Credits page lists every action that has consumed credits. Each row is <strong>\u22121 credit<\/strong>; there are no multi-credit deductions. The action labels you&#8217;ll see:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Cover Letter<\/strong> \u2013 generating a cover letter for a job (the Cover Letter widget on the proposal page).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Job Assistant<\/strong> \u2013 running the Job Assistant on a job-detail page (job summary, fit check, recommended approach).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Job Matching<\/strong> \u2013 Auto Bid evaluating a single job against your profile to decide whether it&#8217;s a match.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Auto Bid<\/strong> \u2013 Auto Bid actually submitting a proposal for a matched job.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Answer<\/strong> \u2013 generating answers to client screening questions on the proposal page.<\/li>\n<li><strong>AI Improve<\/strong> \/ <strong>AI Generate<\/strong> \u2013 improving an existing cover-letter template or generating a new one in the Prompts editor.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Test Template<\/strong> \u2013 testing a saved prompt against a sample job inside the Prompts editor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Regenerating any of these results \u2013 clicking <em>Regenerate<\/em> on a cover letter, re-running Job Assistant \u2013 counts as a separate action and consumes one more credit each time.<\/p>\n<h2>Where to see your usage<\/h2>\n<p>Open <a href=\"https:\/\/account.upwex.io\/credits\">account.upwex.io\/credits<\/a>. Four stat cards at the top summarise the team:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Credits Remaining<\/strong> (green) \u2013 what&#8217;s left in this cycle.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Credits Used<\/strong> \u2013 total spend in this cycle.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Total Credits<\/strong> \u2013 the cycle&#8217;s allowance from your plan.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Extra Credits<\/strong> (blue) \u2013 top-up reserve. Has a <strong>Top Up<\/strong> button for buying more.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In the corner you&#8217;ll see <em>Resets &lt;date&gt;<\/em> \u2013 that&#8217;s when your monthly allowance refills (your Stripe billing cycle, not the calendar month). So a daily cap of 50 submissions can quietly cost ~100 credits\/day if the matcher is also running on lots of skipped jobs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tighten it:<\/strong> raise the <em>Match score threshold<\/em> in Auto Bid settings, narrow your search query, or lower the daily cap. The fewer jobs the matcher sees, the fewer Job Matching credits you spend.<\/p>\n<h3>Job Assistant on every job you open<\/h3>\n<p>Job Assistant runs once per job-detail page. If you open lots of jobs out of curiosity, that&#8217;s one credit each \u2013 even if you never submit a proposal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tighten it:<\/strong> filter on Upwork before opening jobs (budget, posted date, client info), so you only invoke Job Assistant on jobs you might actually bid on.<\/p>\n<h3>Regenerating proposals more than once<\/h3>\n<p>Each regeneration is another full credit. Three rerolls of a cover letter = 4 credits for one job (1 original + 3 regens).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tighten it:<\/strong> accept the first generation and edit by hand for small tweaks \u2013 only regenerate when the result is genuinely off.<\/p>\n<h3>One team member running ahead of the rest<\/h3>\n<p>The credit pool is shared across the whole team \u2013 all members consume from the same <em>Total Credits<\/em>. The Team Members table on the AI Credits page shows credits used per member, so you can see who&#8217;s burning the bulk.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Coordinate:<\/strong> agree on a per-person budget; if one person is running heavy Auto Bid, others may want to scale back manual use, or the Owner can buy a Top Up.<\/p>\n<h2>Top-Up reserve (Extra Credits)<\/h2>\n<p>The <strong>Top Up<\/strong> button on the AI Credits page buys a one-time credit pack that goes into the <em>Extra Credits<\/em> bucket. Extra Credits don&#8217;t reset at renewal \u2013 they sit there until consumed.
