When you click Apply Now on an Upwork job, you land on the proposal form. That’s where the Upwex Cover Letter widget shines – it writes your cover letter for you in 3–5 seconds.

Widget layout

When you open the widget, you see three action cards:

  • Cover Letter – generate a personalized proposal
  • Autocomplete – fill every field on the form without submitting
  • Auto Bid – fill every field and submit the proposal in one click

Click Cover Letter to open the prompt editor – that’s where you choose the template and run the generation in the next step.

Pick a prompt

Choose from your list of Cover Letter Templates (see Cover Letter Templates category). Each template uses variables like [Your Name], [Client Name], [Job Aspect] that get filled in automatically.

Generate & review

Click Generate. Within seconds the cover letter is inserted directly into Upwork’s textarea and the widget switches to the success card. From there you can:

  • Review the inserted text in the Upwork field and freely edit it before submitting
  • Click Regenerate to replace it with an alternative version
  • If the job has screening questions, each one shows a ▶ button to generate an answer or ↻ to regenerate the existing one

For a fully hands-off flow, use Auto Bid on the start screen – it generates the cover letter, answers all screening questions and submits the proposal in one click. Autocomplete does the same but stops short of submitting so you can review everything.

Credits per generation

  • 1 AI Credit per cover letter generation (each Regenerate also costs 1 credit)
  • 1 AI Credit per screening question answer (each per-question Regenerate also costs 1 credit)
  • Auto Bid and Autocomplete spend credits for the cover letter plus each question they answer

Can I edit manually?

Absolutely. Insert the AI output and edit it freely in the Upwork textarea before submitting. The AI is a starting point, not a final version – experienced users often tweak 10–20% of the text.
